Bedroom with candle light, laptop on a bed, photos on clothes pinsFor this project, I wanted to be able to show not only my study space as a whole, but also the different important parts of it from my point of view. I wanted to highlight things like my water bottle, a candle, my notes, my supplies, my computer, music, and ambiance. To do this, I cropped different pictures I took of these things from my perspective while studying, and layered them on top of an image that showed all of them. After layering all of the images, I drew a border around each of them using the brush tool so they looked more cohesive and separated. I also played with the lighting in the piece. Overall, I wanted this image to evoke the sense of calm that I like for my space to have whilst studying. If my space is too overwhelming or bright, I can lose focus or even get a headache. Having a calm, serene space helps me to focus and get work done.

Using this project in the classroom could be interesting and could be well implemented in high school. This project could not only get students to learn the tools of Photoshop or other programs more intimately, but it could also encourage students to look at their study space and study habits in a new perspective.
