Keller ISD Collagraph Workshop

  December 12, 2018

completed collagraphKeller ISD elementary art teachers took part in a three-hour professional development on the Collagraph printmaking method. The workshop was led by artist and educator Adrienne Lichliter who holds an MFA in printmaking from Clemson University and has taught printmaking in K-12 and university classrooms, studios, and museums to students of all ages. During the workshop, teachers learned about the history of Collagraphy and techniques appropriate for elementary age students. Using found objects and lots of Elmer's glue, the teachers each made their own personal plate which once dry can be used to make multiple prints. Because it involves a specific and often messy process, printmaking can be difficult to teach in elementary classrooms. Lichliter shared tips for classroom organization for printmaking and ideas for collaborative printmaking projects, empowering the teachers to try out this method with even their youngest students.
