Hearing Art, Seeing Sound

March 23, 2019

Local fine arts educators spent the day with the mesmerizing Materials: Hard + Soft exhibit at the Greater Denton Arts Council, exploring sound and movement in relation to visual art. This workshop was led by art educators and practicing artists, Marie-Claire Valdez and Shoshana McIntosh. Participating educators experienced the exhibit through multi-sensory approaches and then created collaborative mixed-media/sound artworks in response to works on display. The workshop also included writing, drawing, movement, and sound exercises which can be used in any fine arts classroom to foster awareness and generate synesthetic-inspired expression. See below for images from the workshop as well as recordings of the sound art the participants created collaboratively.

This free workshop was made possible through the generous support of the

M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation
